Smikar provides support for SharePoint Storage Explorer at no charge. Most questions are answered in the documentation; for everything else, contact us.

Self-serve first

Before raising a ticket, check:

  • The FAQs - covers cost, permissions, scan time, removal, and other common questions.
  • The Install walkthrough and Configure walkthrough - both have a Troubleshooting section at the end covering the issues we see most.
  • The User Guides index - most "how do I find X" questions are answered by one of the workflow pages.

We aim to respond on the next business day. For urgent issues - install blockers preventing a planned rollout, scans that fail repeatedly - flag the priority in the subject line.

What to include in a ticket

To get a faster, useful response, include:

  • What you were trying to do. Install, scan, generate a report, etc.
  • What happened instead. Exact error message if any. A screenshot of the wizard or main window helps.
  • Your environment. Windows version, fresh VM or shared machine, approximate tenant size (TB or site count).
  • What you have already tried. Saves us repeating steps.
  • Whether the issue is reproducible. First time, or a recurring problem.

For install-stage issues, attach the wizard's error message in full. For scan-stage issues, mention the scan mode (light vs deep, with or without file-level versions) and how long it had been running when it failed.

What we can help with

  • Install failures and prerequisite issues.
  • Configuration Wizard errors (app registration, sign-in, tenant connection).
  • Scan failures or scans that appear to hang.
  • Specific behaviour that does not match the documentation.
  • Feature requests - we collect these and they inform the roadmap.

What is out of scope

  • General Microsoft 365 / SharePoint Online configuration questions. Use Microsoft Learn or your Microsoft account team.
  • Custom report development. The shipped reports cover most needs; per-view CSV exports give you the raw data for downstream Excel or BI work.
  • Multi-tenant migrations. Smikar's Squirrel product covers archive-side scenarios; storage-discovery is what SharePoint Storage Explorer does, and that scope is intentional.

Sales and licensing
