SharePoint Storage Explorer Release Notes
2 min read
Notable changes to SharePoint Storage Explorer. Customer-facing release notes - updates that affect what you see, scan, or report.
The current release is a Windows desktop tool installed via the installer wizard. For the latest installer, request a download from the product page.
Recent changes
For specific version history, contact support@smikar.com - engineering keeps a full change log and can confirm whether a fix or feature you are interested in is in the build you are running.
Notable enhancements in recent releases include:
- File-level version scanning - toggleable during configuration so you can trade scan time for per-file version detail.
- Deep-scan resumability - interrupted scans now resume from where they left off rather than starting over.
- Per-folder cumulative size - the file browser status bar shows the recursive size of any selected folder.
- CSV export improvements - every per-view export now includes GUIDs and internal type identifiers for downstream pivot work.
How to know which version you are running
Open SharePoint Storage Explorer → Help menu → About. The version and build number are shown. Include both when raising a support ticket.
How to upgrade
Run the latest installer from the product page. Installing a newer version on top of an existing install preserves your scan history and configuration - no need to re-register the Entra ID app or re-enter contact details.
Feature requests
If there is something you would like SharePoint Storage Explorer to do that it currently does not, send the request to support@smikar.com. Feature requests inform the roadmap, and we follow up when (or before) a requested feature ships.
