SharePoint Storage Explorer documentation

SharePoint Online tells you how much storage you are using and almost nothing about what is in it. The admin centre gives totals; it does not tell you which library is growing, which files are enormous, or what has not been opened in two years. SharePoint Storage Explorer opens that box.

It scans your tenant read-only and reports at every level you need:

• Site overview - the whole environment at a glance, largest first.
• Document library drill-down - storage and file composition within a site.
• File browser - search and inspect individual files without leaving the tool.
• Top 100 files - the largest files in the tenant, in one click.
• Inactive content - files bracketed by last-access age (30, 90, 180, 365+ days), which is the report that tells you what is safe to archive.
• File-type breakdown - what your storage is actually made of.

Light and deep scans let you choose between a quick check and a full audit, so a first look does not cost you an overnight run.

The output is board-ready: sites, libraries, file counts, inactive-content brackets and charts of the biggest consumers - the evidence you need before proposing a storage project rather than after it.
