Snapshot Master documentation

Snapshots are easy to create and easy to forget. Left alone they multiply, quietly consume datastore capacity, and degrade the performance of the very machines they were meant to protect. Snapshot Master exists to stop that: one place to schedule, track and remove snapshots across your virtual estate, instead of ad-hoc snapshots nobody owns.

It works against VMware vCenter and Microsoft SCVMM (Hyper-V) from the same console, so a mixed estate is managed in one tool rather than two.

What it does:

• Scheduled and on-demand snapshots, created or deleted on a timetable you set - the mechanism that prevents sprawl rather than just reporting on it.
• Quiesced snapshots and memory-state capture, where the workload needs a consistent point rather than a crash-consistent one.
• VM power operations - restart and shutdown - automated alongside the snapshot jobs that usually surround them.
• Job history, reporting and email notification, so a failed snapshot is something you are told about rather than something you discover later.
