Getting Started with Snapshot Master

Snapshot Master is a Smikar Software tool for managing snapshots, checkpoints, and data stores across VMware, Hyper-V, and Azure virtual machines from a single console. This page is the orientation: what it does, supported platforms, what the trial gives you, and the reading order to follow.

What Snapshot Master does

Snapshot Master gives a single pane of glass for VM snapshot management across the three platforms that most enterprises run side by side:

• VMware (via vCenter) - list, create, delete, consolidate, and revert VM snapshots.
• Microsoft Hyper-V (via SCVMM) - same operations against Hyper-V checkpoints.
• Microsoft Azure - list and manage VM snapshots in your Azure subscriptions.

Beyond inventory, the tool adds:

• Automated scheduling - schedule snapshot creation and deletion to maintain VM performance without manual ongoing work.
• Reporting and email notifications - automated status updates on snapshot activity.
• Remote connectivity - RDP and PowerShell shortcuts to the VMs you are managing.
• Snapshot consolidation - clean up old snapshot chains to free storage and improve VM performance.
• Easy reversion - restore VMs to a previous snapshot with a confirmed-action flow.

What you need to install
