Install Cloud Storage Manager
2 min read
This guide walks every step of installing Cloud Storage Manager on a Windows machine. Allow 10 to 15 minutes from a clean machine; less if prerequisites are already in place.
When the installer finishes, the Connect Azure subscriptions flow takes over — that's the next read.
Before you start
Confirm you have:
- A Windows machine where you have local administrator rights.
- An internet connection.
- The Cloud Storage Manager installer from your request-form approval email.
Step 1: Request and download
Visit the Cloud Storage Manager product page and complete the request form. Smikar emails you the download link. Save the installer to a folder you can find again.
Step 2: Launch the installer
Double-click the installer executable. The Setup Wizard launches and scans your machine for prerequisites. Missing components (typically .NET runtime and Azure PowerShell modules) are flagged and the wizard offers to install them.
Step 3: Accept the Smikar licence
Read the Smikar Software Licence Terms, tick the acceptance checkbox, click Next.
Step 4: Choose the install folder
The default install location is C:\Program Files\SmiKar Software\Cloud Storage Manager\. Change it via the folder picker if you have a different convention. Confirm sufficient disk space and click Next.
Step 5: Confirm and install
The wizard summarises your selections. Click Install to begin. The install copies files and registers the application.
Step 6: Finish
A success message appears. A reboot is recommended after first install to clear any pending prerequisite state. Click Close.
First launch
Find Cloud Storage Manager in the Start menu. On first launch you are prompted to connect to your Azure subscriptions — see Connect Azure subscriptions for the walkthrough.
Troubleshooting
Windows blocks the installer with a SmartScreen warning. The installer is signed by Smikar Software. Click More info then Run anyway, or right-click the file → Properties → tick Unblock before launching.
The installer says a prerequisite failed. Re-run the installer; the prerequisite detection re-runs and only installs what is still missing. If a specific component repeatedly fails, install it directly from Microsoft and re-run.
The download link in your email has expired. Resubmit the request form, or email support@smikar.com for a fresh link.
